MacBook Air, MacBook Pro Models from 2013 and 2014 May Not Be Eligible for Repair

Apple has got a decision to add most of the older laptops to the obsolete and vintage list. So there include the older MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models that were introduced in last 2013 and 2014. This was meant that Apple is no longer engaged with further repairs or servicing these MacBook devices from their official channels.


As above mentioned, now Apple added their older 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models to the obsolete and vintage list. These devices were introduced in  2013 and 2014.  Not only that,  the company decided to add the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and a fifth-generation iPod touch that was released in mid-2014 to this vintage list. Apple updates its facilities annually, and yearly they launch several Apple devices with advanced features. In this 2020 they introduced several devices and that is the reason MacBook Air, MacBook Pro Models from 2013 and 2014 not be eligible for repair.

What are these vintage devices?  Apple vintage devices mean that Apple has not been manufactured for more than five years and fewer than at least seven years. However, it is, At Apple authorized services providers and genus bars these devices remain eligible to repair and service. But here it is necessary if those outlets have the permission to access those required spare parts.

The other thing is, Apple company's 'obsolete' product list  consists of accessories suspended for more than seven years. For the obsolete category list, Apple does not provide any support for repair or service. Here, Service providers also does not have the ability to order parts for these obsolete products.

According to these notifications, there is something you should noted. That is,  if you have a MacBook Air/MacBook Pro released in 2013 or 2014, There does not have any permission for repair and service even from Apple authorized service centers. The other thing is, even for these devices there are in the last stage to received software updates from Apple. 

Because of this latest situation, Apple maintains an updated list of obsolete and vintage products on its website. Here you can clearly note that what are the devices that you should not buy anymore as Apple Stopped further repairings for them. Here Apple added the iPhone 5 to this vintage and obsolete list in 2018 and the iPad 2 in 2019.
